Ex-Members
The 1st Greenock Boys' Brigade Ex-member Club founded its first home that year at 39 West Stewart Street . They received a St Andrew's flag presented by Mr C Macara.
Before the Diamond Jubilee of the Company was marked in 1947, many men found that their Boys' Brigade training was well and truly put to the test in war service. The 1st Greenock Company remembers the following who made the ultimate sacrifice – John Smith, Bobby McFee, John McKinlay, Joe Armstrong and James Devine, the latter's departure cutting short his studies for the Ministry of Christ's Church. Although his vocation was never filled, there are known to be at least three ex-members of the Company called to the Ministry. One Ordained and Ministering in South Africa, one Ordained and Ministering in Australia and another Ordained and Ministering much closer to home in Clydebank.
